In 19th-century Montenegro, a dying poet-ruler named Morlak journeys to Italy in search of a cure, leaving his homeland behind. As his condition worsens, his devoted servant Djuko, torn between duty and longing, faces the growing shadow of his master’s fate, battling jealousy, homesickness, and an unshakable sense of doom.
